ALCS: Tampa Bay Rays vs. Cleveland Guardians
Two teams that were not supposed to be here. The Rays took the American League's top seed and are one step from their first World Series since the COVID-shortened 2020 season — a franchise that has never won a title. The Guardians are the upstart: they rallied past the White Sox in five games in the division series and stole Game 1 of the ALCS 7-3 before the Rays evened it. Series tied 1-1 heading home.
NLCS: Milwaukee Brewers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
A rematch of last year's NLCS between a pair of 100-win teams. The top-seeded Brewers are trying to avenge that loss and took the first two at home, 2-1 and 7-4. The Dodgers are the two-time defending World Series champions and would have to break through on the road to make it three in a row — something no club has done in the modern era.
The Four Storylines That Will Decide October
